3 months later, Amy is still on Godspeed. Amy and Elder have discovered horrible secrets about the leaders and inhabitants aboard the spaceship. They have uncovered a drug, Phydus, that was keeping all the citizens of Godspeed under a zombie like state so that they could continue to control them. Not only were the people being drugged they were also being bred!
The leaders of Godspeed were not only in control of the behavior of their people but also what their children looked like and how many children they had.

The mysteries continue in this second book. Elder is now leader. The decisions he has to make can either make or break Godspeed and its people. Will the people be happy or upset about his decision? He is still a child and is in control of all these citizens lives. Will they be mad he took the Phydus away after they realize their doom? Elder believes he is doing good by allowing his people to control their own minds and their own lives. However, on a ship just big enough for a few thousand people, is it a good idea to let people have their own thoughts and make their own decisions?

Amy and Elder are sent on a hunt trying to figure out more mysteries held in this ship. These mysteries will tell them their future and what has become of the mission that was to take place 500 years after Amy's time. When they find out that the mission has gone over 150 more years then the allotted time first given, they go in search of the answers.

This second book in the Across the Universe Series was great great book! It says mystery and murder.. there is a lot of that. While I was reading it though I was able to figure out the mystery before the book told me. So I wasn't surprised when the author finally told us who was responsible for the murders. Still it kept me happy and excited while I was reading. So far I am very happy with this series. I recommend this read to all ages.

Melanie is doing her best to protect herself and her younger brother from the invaders that have come to Earth to take over it's inhabitants bodies. While breaking into a home looking for food, she runs into Jared a fellow human in hiding. The connection is instant between them. Working together to stay hidden, they begin falling in love and become inseparable.

When Melanie is finally captured, trying to protect her brother, her body is taken over by a "Soul" who goes by the name of Wanderer.
Wanderer has been on many different planets and in many different bodies, however she realizes this Melanie human isn't going to sit back and let her take over. She has never had this problem before and is soon working on a way to make Melanie subside and allow her to take control.
When Melanie thinks of Jared and her younger brother, Wanderer is unable to ignore the thoughts and the feelings that come with them. She falls in love with Jared and the younger brother and is soon working with Melanie to find them.
On a mission now to find the new loves of her life, she also beings a friendship with her host.

This books was a bit difficult for me in the beginning. There was so much going on in the first few chapters that I had a hard time paying attention. Because the author had to explain in depth about these "Souls" and what they did and what they wanted to do, it seemed to bore me. There was so much but yet nothing ever really happened in the book. The best part of this story was the end, literally. Not that it was over, but the end is where most of the action and suspense took place.

Amy has to make a decision. She could be frozen alive and sent into space for three hundred years and start a new life with her mother and father, or she can stay on Earth, live her life and die while her parents are still sailing across the universe. She initially decides to  stay on Earth, until the last moment she decides to take the plunge and stay with her parents. However, what was suppose to be a smooth ride turns out to be anything but.
Amy wakes up unexpectedly, looking into the eyes of the most gorgeous boy she has ever seen. His dark skin and beautiful eyes almost instantly captivate her. However, when she realizes that she has woken up 50 years too early she starts to panic. Her parents are still frozen and she will be an old women before they even wake up. This beautiful boy, Elder, is the future leader of the ship. They begin a journey to figure out what is going on with the ship as well as all of its secrets. They fall in love and have to make decisions that could break them a part.

I love love love this story. I had a great time reading it. She wakes up and has to deal with being a lone,  being different and racism because her skin was light and she was a "frozen". I love the obstacles she has to overcome and how Elder is there with her to help her. I loved the romance in this book. It was light and very age appropriate. I couldn't put this book down. The mystery was a lot of fun and I was finding myself trying to figure it out throughout the book. Always wondering if it was this character or that one. This is a great book! I recommend this to young readers as well as young adults.
